USC Sumter Athletics Department Hosts Golf Tournament Fundraiser

The University of South Carolina Sumter Athletics Department will host a golf tournament Friday, March 31, 2023 at Beech Creek Golf Club in Sumter. This year's tournament is in memory of Dr. Cavin Leslie "Les" Carpenter, the campus dean who brought athletics back to USC Sumter in 2007.

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:00 am with a shotgun start at 9:00 am. The tournament will have a four-player Captain's Choice format.

The tournament includes a special hole-in-one contest sponsored by Jones Chevrolet, prizes for teams finishing in the top three and also longest drive and closest to the pin. A variety of other sponsorships are available. All proceeds from the event will benefit USC Sumter Athletics.

"Fundraising is a top priority for the USC Sumter Athletics Department," said Director of Athletics Adrienne Cataldo. "The funds raised help each of our programs toward their season goals. Events like this golf tournament not only help fund things like officials, equipment, transportation, and travel to district and national championships, but it also helps us support the community through the hundreds of service hours our athletes perform every year."

For more information to register to play or sponsor the tournament, please contact Stacy Nance at 803-938-3777, nancesr@mailbox.sc.edu, or visit our Facebook event page at facebook.com/universityofsouthcarolinasumter.
