October is Filipino American History Month (FAHM). It is a special celebration that honors the history and culture of Filipino Americans. Filipino Americans have made many significant contributions to American society since first coming to the U.S. in October 1587. For example, Dr. Katherine Luzuriaga helped to develop a cure for HIV in infants.
