We are excited for two of our Titan staff members chosen to speak at the SC Technical College System Teaching and Learning Tuesday webinar tomorrow. Director of Counseling & Student Life Services Reneé Patchin and Curriculum Coordinator Mitchell Herring will present ‘Living Out Loud: Building Community and Belonging for LGBTQ+ Students’.
This joint presentation by Patchin and Herring comes after a successful inaugural Live Out Loud Day and SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance), having received the award for student organization of the year. In the presentation, participants from all other technical colleges in the state of South Carolina will be guided through the steps CCTC took to foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment to increase students’ motivations to build community and create a sense of belonging. Topics include creating the college’s Safe Zone training program, developing inclusive student resources and integrating diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives into the college’s framework for student engagement.
We are proud of these two for going above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of students!
