Coker University: Coker, CBAN Recognize 2022 Kente Participants

Coker University issued the following announcement on February 10. 

HARTSVILLE, SC (February 10, 2022) - As part of the kickoff to Black History Month, the Coker University Black Alumni Network (CBAN) and Coker University's Center for Diversity, Interfaith, and Inclusion Education honored 10 students expected to graduate from Coker this spring or summer.

This was the first time that Coker University presented students with Kente stoles in anticipation of graduation. The recognition was part of a "Sanakofa" celebration on February 4.

Coker students who were recognized include:

Maliqe Andrews, Criminology major

Raya Coley, Exercise Science major

Anaya Hawkins, Biology major

James Hurley, Criminology major

Seraphin Kibonge, Molecular Biology major

Tyler McCoy, Communications major

Laneir Henneghan-Rowell, Business Management major

Mahogany Taylor, Biology major

Allissa Young, Communications major

Trey Young, Political Science major
