The South Carolina State University women’s tennis team is set to play against the College of Charleston on April 4 in a non-conference match at Turner Tennis Center, Patriots Point, Mount Pleasant. The first serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

This match holds significance as the Cougars currently lead the series against South Carolina State by an 11-1 margin dating back to 2017. However, last year, South Carolina State broke an eleven-match losing streak with a close 4-3 victory over Charleston in their previous meeting.

The Lady Bulldogs enter this contest with a season record of two wins and ten losses after dropping their most recent match to North Carolina Central by a score of 2-5 during Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. The College of Charleston comes into Thursday’s game holding a record of thirteen wins and seven losses but recently suffered a defeat to Coastal Carolina, losing all four matches played.

Following this matchup, South Carolina State will finish its regular season on the road against Davidson College on April 18 in another non-conference contest.

South Carolina State University competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I level and fields teams in fourteen sports including women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s tennis, cross country, basketball, indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, women’s soccer (not part of MEAC), and football. All teams except for women’s soccer compete within the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
