South Carolina State women’s tennis ends season with semifinal loss to Norfolk State

The South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs women’s tennis team ended their season with a defeat against Norfolk State in the semifinals on April 24 at the Cary Tennis Center.

This match concluded South Carolina State’s season, which finished with an overall record of 3-13. The outcome marks the end of their run in the tournament after advancing to the semifinal round as the number six seed.

Norfolk State, seeded second, gained an early advantage by winning both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches. This momentum carried into singles play, where they secured victories on three courts for a final team score of 4-1 over South Carolina State. The Lady Bulldogs managed to earn one point at No. 1 singles but could not close the gap before Yana Klimchuk clinched the match for Norfolk State by defeating Lecoanet at No. 4 singles, with scores of 6–4 and 6–1.

South Carolina State University competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I level and fields teams in fourteen sports, including men’s and women’s tennis, basketball, track & field, volleyball, softball, cross country, soccer (women’s), and football. All teams participate in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference except for women’s soccer.
