South Carolina State softball to play South Carolina in final regular season game

The South Carolina State softball team will conclude its regular season with a non-conference game against the University of South Carolina on April 28 at the Carolina Softball Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m., and admission to the game will be free.

This matchup marks the second meeting between the two teams this season. In their previous encounter on April 23, South Carolina defeated South Carolina State by a score of 5-1 in Columbia.

South Carolina State enters the contest with an overall record of 20-18 and a conference record of 12-9 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), where they are currently tied for third place. The University of South Carolina holds an overall record of 29-22 and is 7-14 in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.

South Carolina State University participates at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I level, fielding teams in fourteen sports including women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, softball, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, women’s soccer, and football. All teams compete in the MEAC except for women’s soccer.
