The South Carolina State men’s tennis team defeated Coastal Carolina with a 4-0 shutout on April 11 at the Tennis Center in Orangeburg, closing out their regular season.

This victory brings South Carolina State’s overall record to 11-7 and an undefeated 5-0 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), securing them the top seed for the upcoming MEAC Men’s Tennis Tournament. The Bulldogs also clinched the MEAC Regular Season Title with their perfect league performance.

During the match, South Carolina State won all three doubles matches to take an early lead. In singles play, they secured straight-set victories on courts one, four, and five to clinch the overall win. Several other singles matches were left unfinished after the Bulldogs secured enough points for victory.

South Carolina State University competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I level and fields teams in fourteen sports, including men’s and women’s tennis. All teams except women’s soccer compete in the MEAC conference.

With this result, South Carolina State enters postseason play as conference leaders and will look to continue their success at the MEAC Men’s Tennis Tournament.
