South Carolina State University reported on Apr. 8 that two members of its men’s tennis team have received weekly honors from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). A senior player was named MEAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while a freshman teammate earned MEAC Rookie of the Week.

The recognition highlights recent performances by both athletes in matches against Norfolk State and North Carolina Central. The senior, Bankou from Minsk, Belarus, achieved a perfect record at the No. 1 singles position with straight-set wins over Norfolk State (6-2, 6-2) and North Carolina Central (6-3, 6-4). He also partnered in doubles at the No. 1 spot for two victories with identical scores of 6-2.

Freshman Borodatiuk from Ukraine secured his rookie honor after winning both his singles matches at the No. 4 position—defeating Norfolk State (6-4, 6-1) and North Carolina Central (6-3, 6-0). In doubles play at the No. 2 position, he remained undefeated with wins over Norfolk State (6-2) and North Carolina Central (7-6).

The announcement also noted other top performers in conference play this week. Szymon Malecki from Norfolk State tallied a perfect singles record including a three-set victory during competition against South Carolina State.

These awards underscore strong individual contributions to their teams during recent conference matchups.
