South Carolina State men’s tennis team advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Tennis Championship final after a 4-0 victory over fifth-seeded Howard on April 24 at the Cary Tennis Center.

The win allows South Carolina State to compete for its sixth consecutive conference title. The Bulldogs secured the doubles point with wins at both No. 1 and No. 3 positions. At No. 1 doubles, two All-Conference First Team members defeated Howard’s Michael Major Jr. and Kamran McIntosh-Ross, winning the match 6-4. Zamora Bastian and his partner also contributed by taking the No. 3 doubles match with a score of 6-2.

In singles play, South Carolina State continued its strong performance by claiming victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 6 singles spots, completing a shutout against Howard.

With this result, South Carolina State moves on to face third-seeded Norfolk State in the championship match after Norfolk State upset second-seeded North Carolina Central University with a score of 4-1 in their semifinal encounter.

The MEAC Championship final is scheduled for noon and will be streamed live on ESPN+. South Carolina State University fields teams in fourteen sports as part of its National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I program, competing primarily in the MEAC.
