South Carolina State University had 34 of its track and field athletes named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 2026 Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team, the league announced on May 15.
The recognition highlights academic achievement among student-athletes in the conference. The MEAC honored a total of 177 student-athletes from its eight member institutions for their academic success during the 2025-26 academic year.
According to the announcement, “MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.” South Carolina State led with 34 honorees. Other schools recognized include Coppin State (16), Delaware State (26), Howard (26), Maryland Eastern Shore (17), Morgan State (20), Norfolk State (23), and North Carolina Central (15).
Among those listed from South Carolina State were Tinashe Bure, Isaiah Johnson, Mason Miles, Josia Rayford, Jonathan Williams, and Makayla Toussaiant. The full list included names from each participating institution.
This annual recognition underscores both athletic participation and commitment to academics among MEAC athletes. The selection criteria focus on sustained classroom performance over multiple years of eligibility.
