South Carolina State faces North Carolina Central in final regular season MEAC matchup

South Carolina State University’s men’s basketball team is set to conclude its regular season on Thursday, March 5, with a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup against North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. Eastern and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

The Bulldogs enter the contest with an overall record of 8-21 and a conference record of 6-7. North Carolina Central holds a 12-16 overall record and is 8-5 in MEAC play. In their series history dating back to 2010, NC Central leads with 17 wins to South Carolina State’s seven. The last meeting between the teams saw South Carolina State defeat North Carolina Central 85-72 in Orangeburg on February 18, 2026.

In their most recent game, South Carolina State secured a narrow road victory over Delaware State, winning 61-59 at Memorial Hall. A team member led with 18 points, while a sophomore guard contributed 11 points. On the other side, North Carolina Central aims for its third consecutive win after recent victories over Delaware State (74-60) and Maryland Eastern Shore (77-33), with Gage Latimore scoring a game-high 23 points in the latter.

Following this game, South Carolina State will participate in the 2026 MEAC Basketball Tournament from March 11 to March 14 at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

South Carolina State University competes at the NCAA Division I level and fields teams in fourteen sports across men’s and women’s programs. Most teams compete within the MEAC conference.
