South Carolina State Bulldogs men’s basketball team secured a narrow 61-59 victory over the Delaware State Hornets on Monday night at Memorial Hall in Dover, Delaware. The win ended a two-game losing streak for South Carolina State and improved their record to 8-21 overall and 6-7 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

The game featured six lead changes and four ties during a competitive second half. The Bulldogs relied on strong free-throw shooting, converting 25 of 29 attempts, including four crucial shots in the final 11 seconds.

Treadwell led South Carolina State with 18 points, shooting 7 of 12 from the field and making four three-pointers. Another player contributed 12 points by going perfect at the free-throw line (8 for 8), while another added 11 points and four rebounds. A fourth player scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds, hitting decisive free throws with four seconds left to secure the win.

Delaware State fought back from a nine-point deficit in the second half to tie the game at 59 after Ponce James scored with under two minutes remaining. However, Tenebay drew a foul on a drive to the basket and made both free throws to put South Carolina State ahead for good. Delaware State had one last possession but could not convert.

Rahmir Moore was Delaware State’s top scorer with 12 points, while Jalen St. Clair added 13 off the bench. The Hornets shot just 36% from the floor and were limited to three successful three-pointers out of fifteen attempts.

At halftime, South Carolina State led by four points after Treadwell’s eight first-half points helped fuel a key run. The Bulldogs finished with an advantage in rebounding (28-21) and outscored Delaware State in the paint.

With this result, South Carolina State remains competitive in MEAC standings as they approach their final regular season game against NC Central on Thursday, March 5th in Durham, North Carolina. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m., with live coverage on ESPNU.
