The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced on April 28 that the field for the 2026 MEAC Softball Championship is now finalized, with Howard University securing the top seed after an 18-3 conference record and a 25-17 overall mark.

The tournament will begin on May 6 at TowneBank Softball Field, located on the campus of Norfolk State University. The bracket features six teams competing over four days, culminating in a championship game scheduled for May 9.

Howard University will receive a first-round bye and play its first game at 5 p.m. on May 6 against the winner of No. 4 Norfolk State versus No. 5 Morgan State. Delaware State claimed the second seed after finishing with a conference record of 15-6 and an overall record of 26-16; they will also have a first-round bye and open their tournament run at 8 p.m. against either No.3 South Carolina State or No.6 Coppin State.

South Carolina State earned the third seed following what was described as a strong turnaround season, ending conference play at 12-9. They are scheduled to face Coppin State, which finished with an overall record of 8-25 and went 7-14 in MEAC games, at 2 p.m. on May 6.

Norfolk State enters as the fourth seed after compiling a conference mark of 12-9 and an overall tally of 22-19, while Morgan State holds fifth place with a final conference standing of nine wins and twelve losses.

The championship structure includes elimination rounds leading up to Saturday’s final game at noon, which will be broadcast on ESPN+. An additional game is planned if necessary later that afternoon.
