The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced on May 12 that the 2026 Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place from May 14 to May 16 at William “Dick” Price Stadium on the campus of Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia.
The event is significant as both the Howard women’s team and the Norfolk State men’s squad are aiming for their fifth consecutive MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship titles. Both teams began their current streaks in 2022.
Competition is set to start Thursday, May 14, at 1 p.m. with the men’s decathlon, followed by the women’s heptathlon at 1:15 p.m. The first medals will be awarded after each event in the men’s and women’s discus, high jump, and the 10,000-meter run. Friday’s schedule includes preliminary rounds along with finals and medal ceremonies for events such as long jump, shot put, hammer throw, and the steeplechase.
Championship Saturday will be streamed live on ESPN+ starting at 1 p.m., beginning with relay finals and concluding with the men’s 4×400-meter relay finals at approximately 4:15 p.m. The presentation of championship trophies and Outstanding Performer awards will follow Saturday’s final events.
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference is celebrating its 55th year during the current academic school year. The conference consists of eight historically black institutions along the Atlantic coastline: Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Howard University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina Central University and South Carolina State University.
