Lady Panthers Take a 78-45 Loss at Winston-Salem State

The Claflin Lady Panthers (11-11, 4-9 CIAA) took their toughest loss of the season, Thursday, when the team took a 78-45 road loss to the Winston-Salem State Rams (13-8, 9-4 CIAA). The Lady Panthers played hard, but the team was never able to get things going in the loss.

As a team, the Lady Panthers could find few answers for the Winston-Salem State Defense. The Lady Panthers shot 28% (14-of-50) from the floor. The Lady Panthers also struggled to get rebounds in the game with just 25 total rebounds. Adding to the team’s concerns were 26 turnovers. Claflin sophomore guard Nya Morris led the way for the team with 10 points and six rebounds. Fellow sophomore guard Janelle Sample added nine points.

With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 11-11 overall and 4-9 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play.
